چکیده

This article compares three agent-based social simulation models in the area of land use change using a model documentation protocol, ODD, from the ecological literature, with a view to examining how well it enables the models to be compared, how well fitted it is to social simulations, and how successful it might be in increasing communication between individualand agent-based modellers. Such shared protocols can facilitate model review, comparison, and ultimately, replication. We initially conclude that the framework holds promise as a standard communication mechanism, although some refinements may be needed.

Using the ODD Protocol for Describing Three Agent-Based Social Simulation Models of Land-Use Change

This article describes three agent-based social simulation models in the area of land-use change using a model documentation protocol, ODD, from the ecological literature. Our goal is to evaluate how well fitted it is to social simulations and how successful it might be in increasing communication between individualand agent-based modellers. Such shared protocols can facilitate model review, co...

Simulation and Evaluation of Urban Development Scenarios Using Integration of Cellular Automata Model and Game Theory

Urban growth is a dynamic and evolutionary spatial and social process that relates to the changes of urban spatial units and the transformation of people’s lifestyles and consequently demographic changes. Considering the urban development process as a function of land uses interactions, population structure and the strategic behavior of the agents involved in the urban development process (the ...

ABMland - a Tool for Agent-Based Model Development on Urban Land Use Change

Modelling urban land use change can foster understanding of underlying processes and is increasingly realized using agentbased models (ABM) as they allow for explicitly coding land management decisions. However, urban land use change is the result of interactions of a variety of individuals as well as organisations. Thus, simulation models on urban land use need to include a diversity of agent ...

Simulation of The Impact of Income Distribution on Social Unrest Using Agent-based Modeling Approach

Abstract Poverty and various forms of inequality, including class, gender, racial, and ethnic inequalities, are caused by imbalances of power relations and make society prone to social instability and unrest; Inequalities that are by-products of the growing power imbalances between the rich and the poor. The problems of poverty and inequality are inextricably linked to powerful economic and p...

Performance comparison of land change modeling techniques for land use projection of arid watersheds

The change of land use/land cover has been known as an imperative force in environmental alteration, especially in arid and semi-arid areas. This research was mainly aimed to assess the validity of two major types of land change modeling techniques via a three dimensional approach in Birjand urban watershed located in an arid climatic region of Iran. Thus, a Markovian approach based on two suit...
